Lagerstroemia is known for its ability to produce long branches with large bunches of flowers. It can do no harm to prune the plants back heavily in the Winter or early Spring, to a crown of 20 to 30 cm. This enhances growth and bud set in the following year. During spring and Summer, the plant can also be pruned to get it into shape, but this is not necessary.
